Before submitting your application, please attach your unofficial transcript and a 2-3 page personal statement. Your statement should address how you meet or demonstrate the criteria above. Describe how the specific UCEAP program you selected will help you achieve your academic and/or career goals, include specific opportunities, courses, projects or goals you intend to pursue while abroad and explain why studying abroad is the best way to accomplish them. Students with financial need or who are traditionally under-represented in study abroad should discuss the impact these had on their decision to study abroad and how they anticipate these will impact their study abroad experience. Your statement should also describe how your study abroad experience connects to your college theme.
Under-represented characteristics includes, but are not limited to, students who have transferred to UCSC from a community college or state university, have a diverse ethnic background, will be participating on a UCEAP program to non-traditional destination (outside Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand), disabilities, first generation college student, veterans, queer students, re-entry students, students with dependents, STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and students participating on a year-long UCEAP program.
